ITINERARY

You will enjoy the best of Chile in only one full circuit, visiting the worldwide driest desert, the Atacama desert, the Lakes district and Torres del Paine. A travel program with a unique contrast and extreme landscapes.


DAY 1: SANTIAGO DE CHILE

Upon arrival at the airport, you will be transferred to your hotel. Rest of day at leisure. Overnight in Santiago de Chile.


DAY 2: SANTIAGO DE CHILE - CALAMA - SAN PEDRO DE ATACAMA

Transfer to the airport in order to take your flight. FLIGHT SANTIAGO DE CHILE - CALAMA. Arrival at the airport of Calama and transfer to San Pedro de Atacama. Overnight in San Pedro de Atacama. (breakfast)


DAY 3: ATACAMA SALT LAKE - ALTIPLANIC LAGOONS

We will visit today the great Atacama Salt Lake in Los Flamencos National Reserve where you will enjoy its immensity surrounded by fauna in the Chaxa lagoon and surroundings between the flamingos being these the main attraction of the salt with their beauty. Afterwards we will take the road to the highlands to visit the lagoons Miscanti and Miñiques located at 4,200 meters above the sea level at the base of the volcanoes of the "Cordillera de los Andes". The lagoons will delight us with the nature of a landscape of contrasts. We will then enjoy a lunch in the town of Socaire village highlighted for its traditional cuisine. Finally, before returning, we will visit the town of Toconao, its bell tower and Church of San Lucas, both National Monuments since 1951. Overnight in San Pedro de Atacama. (breakfast, lunch)


DAY 4: EL TATIO GEYSERS & MACHUCA - MOON VALLEY

Our trip to the highlands begins during the early morning hours to finally reach one of the most important geothermal fields in the world, “Geysers de El Tatio” surrounded with water emanations and steam, we will enjoy the beauty of the Andes and with this natural stage we will offer you an agreeable breakfast. Then we will visit the "Pozon Rustico" where you will be able to enjoy the thermal waters that the mountain range gives us. Taking the road back to San Pedro de Atacama you will enjoy the beauty of the landscape, native flora and fauna to finally stop at the village of Machuca, shepherds of llamas place, today this town of adobe, straw and cactus wood House is dedicated to the tourism offering local products such as Andean handicraft, Llama's meat, Sopaipillas and empanadas. As an historical and architectural appeal we will visit the San Santiago Church, patron saint of the town. Afterwards, we will return to San Pedro de Atacama. In the afternoon we will visit the Moon Valley. In the middle of the deep dryness of the salt mountain range we find a landscape of salt and clay shaped by water and wind over millions of years. In our journey we will be able to enjoy the beauty delivered by extravagant forms that the cordillera mountain range gives us encouraging to imagination and reflection for your peace of mind. As we spend the afternoon we will go into the Death Valley and from there we will enjoy one of the best views of the Andes and its volcanoes, to finally finish watching the sunset that through its colorful gives us a wonderful end to our tour. Overnight in San Pedro de Atacama. (breakfast)


Note: As mentioned, where El Tatio geysers is located, you also can find thermal water pools with mineral deposits, so it is recommended to take bath suit and towel.


DAY 5: SAN PEDRO DE ATACAMA - CALAMA - PUERTO VARAS

Transfer to the airport in order to board your flight to Puerto Montt via Santiago de Chile. FLIGHT CALAMA - SANTIAGO DE CHILE - PUERTO MONTT. Upon arrival at Puerto Montt airport you will be taken to Puerto Varas, known as the “City of Roses”, located on the shores of Llanquihue lake. Here you can enjoy a wonderful panoramic view of the volcanoes Osorno and Calbuco and the beach in the summer months. Overnight in Puerto Varas. (breakfast)


DAY 6: CHILOE ISLAND - PENGUIN COLONY

This full day excursion allows us to visit the northern part of the Chiloe Island and the Gulf of Ancud. We will get to know its history and its forts, customs and legends. After traveling across the Chacao Channel, watching a large variety of birds and sea lions, we will get to the village of Chacao and will visit its church and have a look at this lovely place with its colorful wooden houses. We will continue our journey to Caulin, a characteristic cove whose activity is collecting seafood and seaweeds and growing oysters. It is also a privileged place because of the large number of migratory birds that get to it. Travel to the south west coast of the island of Chiloé to reach some islands in the Pacific Ocean where a colony of Magellanic and Humboldt penguins* which can be seen in the summer season, from October until March. This is the only place in the Pacific where these species are found as they migrate in the summer season. Overnight in Puerto Varas. (breakfast, lunch).


*Please note: excursion to Puñihuil penguin colony is possible only from October until March


Note: from April 1st until October 14th visit to Castro.


DAY 7: NAVIGATION TO PEULLA

Today we will be driving along the shores of Llanquihue lake and passing through the town of Ensenada before we reach Vicente Perez Rosales National Park with its magnificent lush evergreen forests. A gravel road leads us to the famous Petrohue falls where we will stop and take a short walk to admire the series of rapids and waterfalls formed long ago by cooling lava from the volcanoes. Continuing we will reach the Petrohue pier where the modern catamaran departs to cross Todos los Santos lake. During the navigation you will be able to enjoy the magnificent presence of the Osorno, Puntiagudo and Tronador volcanoes with their different shapes and colours. After 2 hours of navigation we will reach Peulla on the Eastern end of the Todos los Santos lake. Here we will have time for lunch and to explore the beautiful surroundings of Peulla. You can walk to the waterfall “Cascada de la Novia” through the native Valdivian rainforest. In the late afternoon we will return to Petrohue and by bus to Puerto Varas. Overnight in Puerto Varas. (breakfast)


DAY 8: PUERTO MONTT - PUNTA ARENAS - PUERTO NATALES

Transfer to the airport to board your flight. FLIGHT PUERTO MONTT - PUNTA ARENAS. Upon arrival, transfer to Punta Arenas bus station in order to take a regular bus to Puerto Natales. After arrival you will be transferred to your hotel. Overnight in Puerto Natales. (breakfast)


DAY 9: TORRES DEL PAINE NATIONAL PARK

Today, we will depart from the hotel very early to start the full day excursion that will take us to the Milodon cave where a giant sloth lived about 12.000 years ago and then to Torres del Paine National Park where we will see the beautiful Torres del Paine range and lakes like Sarmiento, Nordenskjold and Pehoe. A short trek will take us to Salto Grande, a very beautiful waterfall, part of the hydrographic net of the park. Then, returning to the main road we will continue towards Grey lake. Overnight in Puerto Natales. (breakfast, lunch). (Note: in low season from April until September breakfast and box lunch).


DAY 10: BALMACEDA & SERRANO GLACIERS - PUNTA ARENAS

Today we will departure from the hotel to the pier in order to start the navigation to the Balmaceda and Serrano glaciers. After 4 hours of navigation we will arrive to Bernardo O´Higgins National Park, where these two glaciers are. During this journey we will see Sea Lion colonies, cormorants, waterfalls and native forest. Condors will be seen from the boat. Once we get to the park we will see from the boat Balmaceda glacier. Afterwards we will dock at Puerto Toro, from where we will start a short trek towards the Serrano glacier. Lunch is served at Estancia Perales. Approximately at 17:00 hs. we will be back at Puerto Natales. We will take a regular bus back to Punta Arenas. Reception and transfer to your hotel. Overnight in Punta Arenas. (breakfast, lunch) (Note: in low season from April until September only on Sundays).


DAY 11: PUNTA ARENAS - SANTIAGO DE CHILE

Santiago City Tour, 4 hs (USD 39 per person)

Santiago de Chile is a cosmopolitan city that blends the oldness with modernity. We will show you the origins of our city and landmarks such as Plaza de Armas, the Cathedral, the Post Office and the Municipality of Santiago. The tour will continue by the Government Palace and we will have the chance to walk through some of the most traditional streets and neighborhoods. Later we will go towards the east, where we will see modern buildings and how they have transformed the city. We end our tour at a craft store Piedras Australes where accompanied by a Pisco Sour, we will appreciate pieces of lapislazuli.


Concha & Toro Winery, 4 hs (USD 49 per person)

We will leave the city in order to go to the south and arrive to the Maipo River, where the main and most important vineyard of Chile was founded: Concha & Toro. This is an ideal zone for the production of Cabernet Sauvignon grape, the most traditional wine of the country. Founded in 1883, it is equipped with the most modern technology in cooling equipment, stainless steel tanks, filters and casks made of American Oak or French Evergreen Oak. We will visit the family park, the wine cellars and cellars. Among them the legendary Casillero del Diablo. We will taste its wines and will also have the opportunity to purchase them, as well as some souvenirs of the vineyard.


Valparaiso/Viña del Mar, 8 hs (USD 69 per person)

Our "Garden city", Viña del Mar, will charm us with its architecture, its streets, palaces, and the Quinta Vergara. We will drive the coastal border and will visit the port of Valparaiso which goes back to 1536. The city was declared World Heritage by Unesco and currently is the legislative headquarters. Valparaíso is a magical place of unique and unforgettable landscapes with colorful neighborhoods and picturesque funicular elevators. The tour ends at Sotomayor square and the port.
